Shrimping Hook Up on Friday Sept 25th

I have a 20 foot Key West, full gas tank, shrimp bait license, nets, and beer. I’ve done lots of reading about shrimping but never done it.

Is anyone available to go out on Friday to offer some OJT from Edisto?

I’m no expert but your best bet is to head to the St. Helena Sound (look for the other boats - they will be out there). At lowtide put your poles out - wait for the current to start moving, drop your bait balls near your polls, not directly on them wait 15 minutes or so and start making your rounds.

If you’re not having luck in the sound then try the feeder creeks running into it.

I am heading down that way in the morning to open the house up for the rest of the week of shrimping. Got 16 guys that do this every year now for 9 years in a row. We will be 2 houses up from Edisto Watersports. Shoot me a pm or call me when you get down 803-309-7070. You going to be alone or have a partner?

i’ve shimp the St helena sound the last 5 years usually do petty good caught 1/2 cooler on opening day full cooler the next day 1/2/cooler on Sat in the daylight. On saturday Moved at lest 4 timess stil caught 1/2 cooler. big Shrimp I do do not have a partner for this weekend but only need to make a call or to to secure a parture call me if you want to shrimp this weekend I plan on fishing if I do not get set up on a Shrimping deal.

sorry wsclmac…I got a little happy with the pop cycles this weekend and got a hurtin head for it today. It was the first weekend off all summer. :smiley: Hope you did as good as we did.
