finally got to try out my new depth finder Sunday offshore, I had used it before inshore and was very please. Stopped by 4KI first…where the pictures are from then to CHS60 afterwards. Water depth didn’t seem to make a differance with it, still want to try it in 120+ ft of water.
100’ barge at 4KI
Dry Dock at 4KI
will try to get better pictures without my shadow in them
Beautiful day out there 4KI no bites…CHS60 water 48 deg. blk bass non stop
Hit menu twice, go to system, and highlight “screen capture.”
To save a screen shot, hit the power button, and it’s like a camera.
Go back to the same menu and unhighlight screen capture to be able to use the power button normally for dimming and powering off.
Then go to files page and go into files. highlight screen shots you’ve taken and copy them to an SD card to get them on a computer. Then open the PNG files in MS Paint and resave as JPG’s to put in photobucket and put on here!
Thanks for the pics. My friend has one on his bass boat and we have been wondering how they would perform in the saltwater.
We were out at the 4KI on Sunday and didn’t get a bite either.
Moved to the Edisto 60 and was non-stop.
Thanks again.

which boat were you? I was at CHS60 till about 3pm
It’s a Lowrance HDS 10 with the side scan add on, in the river, stumps etc show up fine but still want to take it in 150’ on live bottom and see. Will post as soon as I get new pictures
Capt. Ed, where did you mount the side scan ducer on your catamaran? Looks like however you set it up was the right way.
I know how to make the HDS do some pretty cool stuff that you might be interested in. It will record stuff that we can turn into interesting models and such with the use of computer programs.
We need to get together for that trip to deeper water. I’d like to see the side scan for myself. Have been thinking about adding it to my boat, but did not want to drop that kind of $$$ without knowing it’d be useful to have.
I would tend to think that the increased depth will simply limit the distance it can shoot out to the sides and pick up fish. It ought to pick up structure okay I think. Could you see fish on it? Probably can tweak it quite a bit like the normal sonar.
In deep water, I think it still ought to show fish to the sides of the boat very well, which would be cool to see while trolling. Would be like side search lights showing bait/fish 100-200ft off either side of the boat.
If it is like the standard sonar, having the ability to move the cursor to what you’re seeing on the sonar and create a waypoint based off sonar info is tremendously useful to me.
Side scan would save me from having to zig zag back and forth over reefs to mark out how a ridge or ledge is oriented.
Looking forward to the pix. What did you pay for the Lowrance HDS 10? About $900? Do you have to mount a single or multiple transducers? Do they just mount on the transom like a “normal” transducer?
T-Top the HDS 10 was right at $2400.00 and the side scan add on was $700.00 extra. The HDS 10 comes with a transducer for normal viewing mounted like all the rest on the transon it has a depth range of 5000’. The side scan transducer is much larger about 3"X8" long, I mounted it 1/4" above the bottom of the boat because on a plane it can’t keep up anyway, this way there is minimal spray coming of it
Phin…I will take you up on your offer… I’ll get a picture of the transducer setup…easier than explaining it…

I was in the 21’ SeaPro with the T-top and Mercury motor. I think we saw you guys at the 4KI. We fished the Robison first then moved around. We left the 4KI around 2 and headed to the Edisto 60.
