What pound braid are you guys using on your pitch roads for cobia when sight fishing? I have a couple sargus 6000 series that I want to use this year. I have a ton of 20 for my red/ trout rods but I am sure that’s a little light. Thanks in advance.
20# is all you need. I catch a few every year and never had a break off. Just use new line and set your drag properly and you will be OK. I went through the heavy tackle phase years ago, you just don’t need it if you play your fish properly.
You guys are just way overkill…I use Wally Marshall Hi-Vis yellow 4lb test crappie line on my Zebco 202 Slingshot Combo from Wal-mart…

Someone once asked me: “Aren’t you worried about all the gaps in your work history due to fishing?” My response: “I am more worried about the gaps in my fishing history due to work!”
Your bring up an excellent point hurricane, when the cobia see my 202 sling shot they will likely roll over and wait on me to scoop them up with the net. I bet this (**() thing will cast a mile. Especially with that 4 pound crappie braid.
My grandson caught a 12 lb black tip shark on his zebco 404 so dont discount them all. Of course the reel gave out 10ft from the boat and we had to hand line the rest of the way, but you should have seen the smile on his face. Poor zebco never went fishing again. could not repair it.
