I know there have been many posts of anglers catching trout on every cast - regardless of where they were, but my group has had a tough two days of fishing around low tide. Wednesday saw only 5 reds between 2 boats ( other boat was Larry , Steve , Johnathan Page and their trusty dog, Tybee )in several spots that typically hold many reds. Yesterday fished several more “hot spots” with only 1 red between 2 boats using artificals and cut mullett.
I do not know if it is the recent cold spell ( my daughter Ellie was a little chilly on Wednesday morning ) , old age, angler error, bad luck, or perhaps the dredging equipment in Calibogue Sound ( they were working on Thanksgiving Day !) to blame for the slow fishing but we will hit some new spots today at low tide- despite the high winds .
Are you fishing deep? That’s where most of the fish and bait are now. Try getting up into the smaller creeks, find an outside bend with deep water, 12-20 feet, preferably with some structure. The bait is deep and so are the fish.

Ok- they chickens win again ( with the help of 6 turnovers) . The only thing worse than losing was listening to the announcers talk about how great the “Old Ball” Coach was on calling plays.
