Some Bottom Dwellers

Jumped on the Glacier Bay Saturday with my buddy Chris, Andy and Vick for a ride out for some trolling and bottom fishing.

The forecast was nasty but with the west winds the GB did great. Glad it laid down for the ride in rather than taking those bigguns on the nose coming in.

Anyway, we rode all the way to 500’ and not a grassline in sight. Put the spread out for a brief time and said, screw it. Cap’t knew where the bottom dwellers were.

We moved in a little more shallow and the jigs and chicken rigs went down. Triggers, Vermillion, Silvers, BIG Black Sea Bass, Grunts ect started coming over the rail.

Also got into those (**() Donkeys which will make you sit down after reeling a good one in. Broke my favorite jigging rod in half on one…that sucked!

Also caught a Sand Tilefish that is supposed to be awesome eating. After cleaning all those fish I decided to look up a Sand Tilefish in a book I purchased awhile back (Sportfish of the Atlantic). It shows that same fish with a world record weight of 2.4lbs. You have to be kidding me!!!

This fish was at least 4lbs.

I have a pic of it that I will post when I have time.

Anyway, if it is a record, I will tell everyone eating it to chew a long, long time.

Great time with Great folks! Can’t beat that.
