sooo true

Mr King of pier, how you doing? Never said hello to ya-hello. For some reason my obcession has led me to believe that if I buy the best stuff its going to make me better, untill I go Fishing with my buddy who buys the cheepest junk he can find at walmart. His poles are like broomsticks and they continue to catch just as many fish as my fancy ones and they dont break, interesting . While i got you always wanted to know whats the biggest red you pulled off that pier, you really have dialed it in out there.

HEY…I like my $22.00 Wally world rods and ebay reels. Been using some of the same rigs 5-6 years, no issues. I have 4 of those 9’ heavy action “broom sticks” that have landed 5" Whiting to 5’ wide Rays to 50" Bull Reds no problems. I’ve had some of my surf rods for 5-7 hard seasons. Personaly I can’t justify spending 150-250 on a rod that WIl not land more fish.

As long as you have drag you will be ok

I have a quantum reel I bought at the navy exchange in 1996 for like around 20 bucks or so and it still works great I have it on an ugly stick I bought at a pawn shop for an additional 20 bucks. I got the ugly stick in ohio it’s a 10 footer which nobody needs anything like that up north so I got a great deal. What I really want is a surf cart. Anyone know where I can pick one of those up for another 20 dollar bill? But seriously, do any of you guys know where I can get a good deal on a cart?

All my surf reels are Quantum, almost bullet proof. 4-bsp50, 2-csp60, 2-bsp80 and 1-csp30, all are the older styles. Won’t buy anything else. Ugly Sticks are great rods, I prefer a stiffer tip though.

I agree with you Mr Parker I have 3 8 ft med-heavy rods that I use for my bait set ups that have no problem landing big fish, best rods Ihave ever bought cheep and last forever and not to stiff, I love them. Mine are 5 yrs old. So I bought a 10 footer and honestly its not my favorite little stiff for my liking. I am partial to saint croix avid series which are costly but come with a life time warranty that they honor with a 97% return rate if you break it they fix it, for life, and they will certainly break allot faster than the ugly sticks-no doubt as they are light weight material, but they do cast like a dream. I wasnt criticizing the rods or choice to buy them as i have 3 myself, wish all rods held up like them.

I’ve had the same surf rods and reels for about 25 years. American made Penn 650SS, 6500SS and a 750SS. My rods I bought up on the Outer Banks around 1990. 1 8 ft. and 2 9ft.
