He needed to be put out to pasture last year, I remember saying that on here. I also said you'd have a bad season. Guess what, it won't get any better for the foreseeable future and you'll spend $4 million on a HC for a terrible product on the field.
Yeah, but you said the same thing through the 11-2 seasons…
No, I said it wouldn’t last long and to enjoy it while you could. I guess that’s the same thing to some of you. Hmmm, looks like I was right again.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Look at the timeline where USC’s recruiting of in-state kids was strongest. You had a mid-season firing of Boutdone, a WR coach promoted to HC and a lot of uncertainty surrounding Clemson at the time. Recruits that were heavy leans to Clemson were no longer there, that first class of Dabo’s was small and untalented whereas Sakkerliner had Spurrier giving them name recognition. He got to ride that without a lot of work getting those kids for a few years. In the meantime, Dabo was beating the bushes, working his ass off in GA and FLA bringing in big recruits.
The talent started to turn, good coaches were hired and kids started buying in. The recruiting philosophy hasn’t changed at either school, Dabo and his staff work their butts off to get these kids, Sakkerliner is still relying on Spurrier’s name to bring them in. Dabo sits down with mom and dad in their living room and assures them he’ll do what it takes to make sure their kid gets an education, stays out of trouble (yeah, he’s had more than his share that couldn’t) and become good men with a shot at the NFL. Spurrier meets the parents when they come to campus for official visits. Which coach do you want your kid playing for?
It is coaching, it is also recruiting and finally it is leadership. SOS has slowed down and won’t/can’t put in the work to do what is needed in today’s CFB to get those kids. He needed to be put out to pasture last year, I remember saying that on here. I also said you’d have a bad season. Guess what, it won’t get any better for the foreseeable future and you’ll spend $4 million on a HC for a terrible product on the field. He has said tons of crap that do not pan out (Stoudt is better than Boyd). Even a blind squirrel finds a nut.
Wonder what Bob Stoops thinks about a healthy Cole Stoudt?

Some of Dabo’s rants can be a little embarassing, but one thing you see is passion. You don’t see it in Spurrier anymore. A visor or headset will last him more than one game nowadays. You can have all the knowledge in the world, but if you aren’t passionate about your job, you won’t do it as well as you did. Can’t say I blame him. I don’t want to work til I’m 70 in a job where someone besides myself demands results.
I have always said that Carolina is where coaching legends go to fade into obscurity… the old ball sac has been there (and done better than most) longer than most.

After taking a look at this roster I am not sure what to think now. I do think that getting housed by your in-state rival for in-state recruits is a bad sign and I do think they have fallen off on recruiting, but if you go by their players rankings coming out of high school we should have a pretty decent product on the field. In the past they have been known for finding talent and developing it, when others may have passed on players, but now they seem to have talent that is not getting developed. Either way I still think a change is probably needed. Maybe the message has gotten stale. It is tough playing with a freshman quarterback, but again there should have been depth developed at the position, not banking totally on Conner Mitch with no real back up. http://247sports.com/Team/South-Carolina-Gamecocks-182/Roster
I’m not red faced, hell I have said for years that he needs to get out of the way (not leave). But I do believe his passion is still there. The 5 question marks were for how long my face had a quizzical look while read your post.
