OK, looks like us inshore guys might be able to catch some spades. Any recipes or comments on the table fare of spades? I would love to catch one but if it isn’t fit to eat I don’t want to kill it. The older I get, I only kill what needs killing, flies, roaches etc.

I eat a ton of Spades, they dont have much of a flavor on their own so you can season them how ever you like. My top 3 are in sandwiches, eggs, and casseroles.

Is it better to fish the pilings at slack tide? Or do you just need a good bit of weight to get your bait down during the running tide?

We were at the Hilton Head reef yesterday trying to slow troll live menhaden for a king and one of the lines went off.Not much of a run but hard to crank in the fish. We thought it might be a shark but it turned out to be a foul hooked spade. Just another way to catch spades.
