I’m fishing Monday, but this more of a general location and time question. While the Spanish mackerel are inshore are they also in the surf? Or is there a certain time period where they are thick in the swells? And where are they generally found , breakers, first trough, as far as I can cast, or right along the rocks? I would be throwing gotchas with fluoro leader, what is the appropriate length? Also cut shrimp or sqid better for pompano in the suds?

i know a man that sets out a net, from the beach (iop) and catches them. so they come very close to the surf, not sure when the best time is. but deff go early and cover some ground.
for the pomps ive done well with small pieces of local shrimp.
I will, I like to do something as my other rods deadstick so normally I’m fishing some plastic or hardbait on the boat. I’m hoping to catch a blue or Spanish doing it but ill do it anyways just wondering if I had a good chance. Thanks.
Also any reason at 11:35 at night? LOL.
