Ok where and how do you guys catch them. And has anyone used the DOA shrimp artificials? I bought a couple packs to try. How do you fish them? From what I’ve read you pretty much fish them like a rubber worm nice and slow up and down. One thing I saw was using one under a rattling bobber. Anyone tried this? Thanks in advance for replys.
Trout in the surf is a peculiar thing. They are really only around a few areas and they turn on and off with tide surf conditions water color etc. I have had my best luck in the surf with jigs and suspending hard baits. But topwater can work well when conditions are right. Also bait will produce. Look for deep troughs and hard structure. Otherwise it may be better to post this question in another section as trout are not necessarily the most highly targeted species in the lowcountry surf.
I saw a guy catch a cooler full off the pier at crosbys and I was told they are being caught off my pleasant pier I guess I should have been more specific and said from the piers but this forum is for pier and surf really

I have caught lots of big trout in the surf around rocky bottoms with live shrimp. You can also incidentally catch a few sheepshead this way.
Go to Folly Beach boat landing… Toss an electric chicken around the bridge pilings. Catch lots of trout there myself. But then again I Shark Fish more then anything now so its been a few years but it used to work for me back in the day. Worth a shot!
