March has rolled in rather nicely here in the Lowcountry with some beautiful warm sunny days. The early spring weather always gets me excited about fishing, unfortunately the March winds usually leave me sitting on the hill waiting on a calm day. With fishing on the brain and comfortable breezy days I usually spend this time of year performing my annual spring cleaning that includes washing, waxing, polishing, etc. I usually work on different sections of the boat each night after work and over the weekends until it is all wrapped up.
This year my first project was the exterior of the hull, I had some minor oxidation, and the gel coat had faded some over the years. I ran up to Boaters World West Ashley in order to find some products to remove the oxidation and bring the color back to the gel coat. As I walked down the cleaning supply aisle I was simply overwhelmed at the number of products on the market. With so many different brands and types of cleaners, waxes, polishes, stain removers etc. I was baffled as to where to start. Having had good experiences in the past with the Boaters World staff I asked for help. After explaining my needs to Stacey and Bill they were able to recommend some products to assist with that particular cleaning project. The products they recommended worked so well that I continued to consult them before I began each of my other cleaning projects. Thanks to Bill and Stacey and their staff at Boater’s World I have to say my boat looks better than it has in years and many parts of my 7 year old Contender look as though they have been restored to brand new condition. Provided herein is a listing of products and their manufactures as well as some brief application guidelines. These are all products that I have used over the last couple of weeks to help clean, restore and protect my boat.
