Spring Fever

Several years ago we purchased a new boat in February and spent the next month getting the boat rigged out to meet our liking. Needless to say we were all chomping at the bit to take it out and do some fishing. We finally got an April, Saturday where my dad, Tim, and I were free and we planned to go. Two days before our trip the weather for the weekend went in the tank. Winds for Saturday were forecasted to 30 miles per hour out of the Northeast (one of the worst directions for our coast). That morning the trees were still and there was not even a hint of breeze in the air. The phone calls began and we were on the water in no time. The whitewater action was moving closer and I realized that it was the wind the National Weather Service had been warning us about. Within the next minute the wind went from 5 knots to 30 and the seas jumped from flat to 5’ and no real intervals. The fish was still on and the wind was pushing us toward the rocks at a rapid pace. I was able to back the boat down at full throttle and get it turned just in time. As we made our way back toward the harbor the seas inside the jetties became nasty and t
