Springbreak Bull Shark - Requiem Fishing

Posting on behalf of my teammate to keep some kind of reports coming here during this dreaded winter.

“Last week was my last spring break at College of Charleston and the first spring break I have ever done anything. My girlfriend and I headed down the west coast of Florida for a few days to get some sun. Our first night down, we camped on the beach with my buddy/teammate Garrett. He showed up with a nice cownose, some fresh ladies, and a few jacks. The current was ridiculous (8oz spider zip tied to 12oz bank sinker wouldn’t hold on deep drops) so we dropped baits at 25 yards on his 9/0 and my Makaira 50w. A few hours after sunset the Makaira went off. We put my girlfriend on the rod for a while but the fish was far too heavy for her to do much with it. I took over and after ~25 minutes, we landed a healthy, 7’3 bull. The following morning while I was packing up, a nice Gag was landed on a Penn 330 on yakked lady fish head.”
