I wasn’t sure if this should be in the Edisto or Beaufort forum, but here is my question…
We are coming down next week for a few days and have a place to stay on St.Helena Island. My Brother-in-law is dragging his 24’ cc down and we plan on fishing as many days as possible. How navigable is the inlet from the St. Helena Island side? Or would it be better to just put in at Edisto and run the inlet on that side? Any advice is appreciated.
I would post on Beaufort/Hilton Head.

Just follow ICW through ■■■■■■■ cut out of south edisto.
Plenty of shrimp trawlers leave out of St.Helena sound every day. Get a good map and go at low tide and watch out for breakers until you hit the buoys and then follow the buoys out.

Either one is fine. Just follow the markers. The drive to Edisto from St Helena takes about an hour. Not worth it.

Thanks for the info. We have a place on the water, close to Butch’s Island Boat Ramp (due North 3/4 mile). http://fishingstatus.com/Home/Details/tabid/61/indexid/791037/Default.aspx
Looking forward to some good fishing!
Hey xfernal. That landing you mark above is very handy but pretty low at low tide. My 19’ Scout bumps the bottom (sandy bottom) a bit leaving the creek at low. Also, there is no dock, just a ramp. Once you’re out however, you’re free to hit the big water. Just follow markers and your GPS. Sam’s Point landing is a better bet for a bigger boat. Just make sure you check out Butch Island before you put in. And again, beware low tide. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up. We may certainly try Sam’s Point instead.
