I am so sick of “performers” adding their style to the singing of the SSB and actually demeaning its significance. Did you folks catch the debacle at the beginning of the Rose Bowl? What a freaking joke. Those four ladies could not carry a note between them. What a shame to allow untalented people to sing one of our nation’s most beloved songs! I understand Ben Vereen did even worst rendition at the Fiesta Bowl and actually fell. Anyone catch that “performance”?
I would prefer that they just play a recorded version as most “renditions” are terrible.

One of my favorites is when Toby Keith sang it at the 2001 Orange Bowl ( NC game OU vs FSU). He had to try to drown out FSU fans who were doing the “war chant” during the anthem. Disgraceful fans, classy singer.
Any group of fans that will do the war chant outside a legal press conference for rape charges, is obviously classless. No need to point out the obvious. Which is why I can not, and will not pull for FSU against AU, even though they are in the ACC and it seems you are supposed to cheer for your conference regardless of how feel about the team/fans.
