Was looking over the SC saltwater state record fish and saw 23Sellsfish (P. Godbout) listed for White Grunt. That’s impressive, even though I’ve never seen a white grunt. Know one other fella who holds one of the records. Any other CF.com members on this list- http://www.dnr.sc.gov/fish/saltrecs/records.html
Sellsfish and 23sailfish are two different people. Paul has caught a bunch of very impressive fish. And Ricky… well, Ricky takes pretty pictures.
Oh my bad, I see the names and always think of the same person, guess I had them together for some reason, easy to confuse the two. So meant to say Sellsfish.

Tic,tic,tic
Sellsfish is a USMC veteran commercial fisherman\seafood guru New Jersey native.
23sailfish is a Charleston native engineer that loves photographing tailing redfish.
… But I can see where you’d mix us up.

Phin has the hog snapper record.
Surprised by some of these records. Spot at 1-1 and Whiting at 2-10 for example, seems like I’ve caught those fish close to that before, maybe I overestimate the weight without weighing on a scale is all, but that doesnt seem like much to me.
Gut Wrench has the Cubera Snapper
Where does one take a fish they mite consider a state record?
Longbearded1 has the skipjack tuna record.
Gutwrench has cubera
14’ Skiff-“Redfish Reaper”

I’ve seen it listed on the DNR website and rulesbook. I believe there are designated weight stations throughout the state. You can look it up on the website or call DNR.
Basically any state of SC approved scales (can’t remember the proper term), such as the ones at most grocery stores will be accepted. Need witnesses that saw you catch the fish and when it is weighed. Weigh the fish as soon as possible if you think it might be a record fish. The DNR used pay for mounting your state record fish, I don’t know if they still do.
You guys count freshwater records too? I’ve had the white bass record for a few years. Caught on a Berry’s spoon in late December from Muray 65’ deep feeding with stripers. I’ve heard that the Berry’s spoons work pretty well in saltwater. Anybody ever tried them?
I had the GA state king mackerel record for a few years, and dang if my next door neighbor didn’t take it away from me. Of all the bad luck, my next door neighbor:question: I had to move.

They work very well for spanish, blues, weakfish, seabass (they eat everything), little tunny, and anything else schooling on small bait fish.

I’ve caught many Whiting in the 1-13 to 2-1 range, weighed with a digital scale, but 2-10? That would be a fat one! The big ones look like Pup Drums with no spots. Here is one thats a solid 16" no where near 2lbs.
I know NikonJedi has a record on some sort of Iraqi desert fish (Asp, I think?) Pretty sure there are a few others on here also
