How is the run from the ramp at station creek to the broad? Is it too shallow for a 16’ skiff? I haven’t ever been thru there but it’s close to where were at. I normally fish Morgan river and st Helena sound area. Thanks in advance.
16’ will make it all day, but if you don’t know the area, you’ll be in for a slow/sketchy ride… Oddly, I’d say go at mid-low tide so you can see the grass peeking through the water. At a high tide, it’ll look like a bay some times. If you go at high, you can make it w/o any trouble, especially if you stay in the GPS channel, but… if you come back at low or ever follow your trail at low, you’re not guaranteed to make it.
Does your GPS have the soundings on it? I used to do it in one w/o soundings and I just took it slow and stayed within my water areas. Stay wide on the turns and there was one island that didn’t show up on my first GPS… but I don’t konw where it was, sorry. It shows up on my new unit.
The exit in to the broad is a “stay left” kind of thing. Come out of the creek and look left for the cans, you can shoot kind of towards them with a little of a left, left, left kind of tendancy. I’ve sat on the flat coming back in for several hours one night as I learned a few lessons from a buddy. You can see this flat on google earth to get a picture of what I’m talking about.

Thanks bro, that helps a lot. Hope wind and fish cooperate tommorrow.
I got stuck on that flat coming out of the creek one time and luckily when the two of us got out and pushed we were able to free it up.
We sunk in that nasty stuff to our knees but was sure glad to get free as the tide was dropping and would have be a loooong wait[:0]!
