Stereo opinions

I’m looking to install a new head unit and speakers as the free head unit and cheap speakers I have now are getting to the end of their life. I just have 2 speakers in the console, one on either side, and a conventional head unit in a flush mount box on the dash.

I am thinking hard about going with a low end fusion unit, but I’m going to have to cover the enormous hole that will be left by my current setup. I was thinking of just covering it with a piece of starboard and flush mounting the new unit to that.

If anybody has any input or recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running Lowrance or Simrad electronics? If so, look at the SonicHub2. It works GREAT.

Does it receive FM radio? I couldn’t find that in their descriptions anywhere. Also, in not looking to spend quite that much money, either.

Just had this combo installed in my boat and I absolutely love it. I’m not looking to be a floating concert so it’s plenty loud for me and the sound quality is great.

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

I might be able to save you some cash. I picked up some NOS speakers a while back for next to nothing. If you want to have a look at what I have I can send you pictures. I’m cleaning out the garage and they need to move on.

What electronics do yo have?

You can get the SonicHub with 2 speakers for $300 or so…keep that in mind during your research. Good luck, these decisions are hard.

I think I’m going with this setup. The speakers fit my cutouts, and I trust that head unit more than a standard one. I would go with the sonic hub, but this is $70 less and I don’t have t fill a hole in my console.

Thanks for the replies and the offer for the speakers!

FUZION ,Small unit AMAZING SOUND

Won’t cover your hole unless you tie the existing head unit to this and run the bluetooth. 4 speakers on pontoon and it’s loud. Plenty loud. Bluetooth is the way to go

I was looking at the Fusion RA 55 and noticed in the Q and A field someone posted there was a mounting bracket for existing single DIN holes. I didn’t do much more research past that but it sounds like there is a bracket to put it in the same spot. The website says that one has Bluetooth, Aux input and FM tuner built in. I am only powering two speakers as well. I have the West Marine Pro 6.5 or something like that. They go on sale pretty often. A lot better sound than the cheap ones that usually come with a receiver package.

im not to sure, but im pretty sure…

They do make an adapter for a single din hole, but I won’t need it. I’ll put a piece of starboard in the flush mount radio cover that I already have and will screw the RA 55 to that. It will look neat and clean when I’m done with it.

Also I have to go with 6" speakers due to the existing cutouts and there is absolutely no room for anything bigger. I wasn’t looking to break the bank, just get a waterproof, reliable FM radio with Bluetooth. I think this package will work perfectly.

I have the Fusion MS-RA205 with 4 wet sounds speakers and they sound great.

Amazon has some good deals too:

I would also recommend one of these too. It will only help prolong the life of the stereo.

Have not seen this before, very cool setup, might have to try one!

I recently bought a new (to me) boat with a Fusion stereo…I really like the stereo, but I’m not to crazy about the speakers. I’ve got the bass boosted to 100%, mid-range to 70% and treble to -100% and they still sound like a tin can.
