Just curious as to how everyone likes them, their thoughts, and recommendations. I’ve got a 21’6" Bay Reef. The Stick It site recommends a 10’ pole system with no brake for my boat size which is not suggested for use with “the brake”. I’m mainly looking for something that I can use while I’m on the trolling motor and find a good school of fish and want to hold the boat awhile. Other than that, not interested in the Power Pole as I’m not ready to invest the cash just yet. Again, any experiences, thought, or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

I have two 8 ft stick its that I use on my sea hunt triton 225. I have used them in various configurations and have loved them. They are much easier to use than an anchor - especially when alone and trying to move from spot-to-spot. I was also looking at various power pole setups. This was the best investment I have made since I have had my boat - I think I spent between $160-180 for both.
Got2Go, a friend of mine got around an 8’ Fiberglass Rod at Guy C Lee in Mt. Pleasant and made his own stick it. I have the 7ft and holds my boat just fine although my boat is only 17

It works great. I have mine attached to the bow rail with the rope that came with it. I store the pointy end on the boat in a sidewall rod holder. A piece of pool noodle on the shaft and tennis balls on the handles reduces markings outside the boat. Pluff mud sticking to the pole is the only downside. Gotta have one for shallow water fishing. Power pole just not worth it to me, another maintenance risk, battery drainer, swimmer obstruction, etc.
I second what others have said that you will wonder how you have gotten by so long without one. Hands-down the best $80 or whatever they cost I have ever spent for my boat. I have the stick it anchor, but I am sure there are multiple brands that are all good.
ive been woundering if it would be a good idea to go get a piece of iron rod from lowes and makin my own cajin ancor. anyone got any thoughts on how it would work? i figure itd be a ton cheaper than gettin anything fancy and it should do the job just fine, right? and has anyone tried like pbc pipe filled with something as a pin? it just seems that about $100 for a piece of fiberglass is a little steep, and why buy it if i could make it. one things for sure though, im sick and tired of the “old Fashioned” anchors.
I made my own. I took an 18" piece of 1/2 copper ground rod and epoxied that about 6" into a 1/2" piece of PVC with a T-handle on top. Grind the tip of the grounding rod into a point. Mine works pretty well for the $20 I have in it.

If it is metal and not stainless, it will rust! You could build something for around $30-40, build another one when it wears out, repeat. Or, buy a nice set up off the bat, and not have to worry about it!
We make these anchor here local on James Island. We have white, black and camo in 8ft lenghts. We can make them in many color EVA grips either two 5" or one 10", stainless shackle for your line to attach and a butt cap to push pole into ground. They are $75 for white or black and $85 for the camo. Below are some pictures of some that we just made. Let me know if we can build you one.

It is used as an attach point for your line to connect your boat to. We are in the prototype phase of a mounting system type “brake or bracket”. Most people we have sold to just use line attached to a cleat on their boat to the anchor.
I been using a Wang bracket on the transom for about 5 years, and love it. I’ve also got a second pole that I built and sometimes tie it to an amidships cleat when the boat is swinging around on one stick. They will change the way you fish in shallow water. When using one pole I always use the bracket, it’s much better than a line tied to the boat, IMO.
Lowcountryanchors, those are some very pretty handles, but when you bury one in the mud they are often hard to pull out. A “T” handle will give you a much better grip with wet and fishy hands:wink: Just saying
When using the stake out sticks in a bracket I find the fancy foam collar limits the depth the stick can slide down, and offers no advantage. Sometime you need every inch, so I build mine without the foam collars.
Cracker Larry,
Thats the reason we put a butt cap on the end to be used for a retrieving point too. The “T” handle is used by everyone so we we went with something that made the anchor easier to store in rod lockers/gunnells and looks so much better! We also do cork grips so they can match your rods.
