Stick it pole anchors

Looking for input. I have a 21’ bay and am not in a position to buy a power pole. Considering the 8’ or 10’ stick it pole anchor. Does anyone have experience or ■■■■■■■■ on these systems?

i have a wang 8ft.
i love it and use it every trip. Just realize with a 8 footer, you will only be able to anchor in @ five foot of water.

I have 2, 8’ wangs, and like JMH I use them on every inshore trip. For that size boat you will probably want a longer one than 8’.

forgot to add, in case ur wondering, i have a 19.5 ft flats boat and it does hold it well

I have a 19’ bay boay and my 8’ works well. As stated above though, works best is 5’ of water or so. However, depending on the current, I have used mine a little deeper. Absolutely love it!

Thanks for the input. From the sound of it, the 10’ may be the ticket. I appreciate the advice. Money is to hard to come by to throw it away on something that doesn’t work:smiley:

Love my eight foot Stick It.

You guys use the brackets or just leash up to the pole?

Leash

Pluffdaddy,
I’ve got the 12 ft. pole and use it with my 21 ft. bay boat and 16 ft. john boat. I wanted the longer pole to anchor in up to 8 ft of water w/ the bay boat and you can as long as it’s not too hard off a bottom. I was surprised how little penetration you needed in the bottom for it to hold the bay boat in a decent current. Even though it’s 12 ft, I bungee it to my rails on the side of boat and it’s completely out of the way. My brother puts his 12 ft. pole in the rod holders built into the side of his and this keeps it out of the way when not in use. I use it as a anchor/push pole in the john boat when I’m fising shallow and trying to fish an area as quiet as possible.
I agree with other guys on using the leash… I think it gives you more depth to anchor and a better angle with the least resistance fighting against the current.
I bought off of the website and had to pay a big $ shipping fee. I was in Haddrell’s a couple months later and they had them on display up to 8ft. They told me that could order the 12 ft. pole w/out the extra shipping for you. I told my brother and sure enough he bought the same pole I had without the shipping fee from them locally. Not sure if they can still do this, but it’s worth checking to save over a $100 dollars to ship from company.

Hope this helps

I use a bracket on the transom for one pole, and a leash on the other one, tied at the bow or to one of the side cleats. Often the boat wants to spin on one pole and the second one stops that.

I have a 22PF and just bought a 10ft Stick-It. Should’ve bought one years ago, I didn’t go with the brackets but I’m sure they work fine too. Best $80 I’ve spent

Leash.

JT and all,
I appreciate the input. Certainly sounds like the real deal. Going to get my hands on one before my next trip down to the coast.

I have a 22 ft bay and two eight foot stick it pins. Haddrells Point sells the complete package (pin, short leash, long leash, and mounting brackets). Couldn’t get the regular anchor to hold this weekend due to the wind so set a pin near shore and used a dock line…held no problem.

So glad I found this post. I have a 20’ Scout CC. Will one (or two) of these hold something that large? I see some 21’ bay boats mentioned but I’m much heavier with larger sides for wind to put a hatin’ on me.

Coca, you will only need one.

Be careful using the tethers I was tethered in with only one stick it and as my boat sway in the current is pushed slack on to the rope popped off the cleat and they sink by the way, so the cooper has it now. They do work well in strong current, however they are a target for theft buddy got one stolen right out of the brackets off his boat in front of his house.

Most of the time yes, but when the wind is against the tide, or when you stake out at the convergence of 2 creeks with different currents, sometimes the boat will spin like a pinwheel on one pole. Makes me dizzy. Then you need 2.

I need to paint my 10 foot stick of EMT electrical conduit black so it looks like a ‘Stick it’ pole.
