I wanted to be in 60 degree water. This was the first spot we stopped.
Notice the temp. It was far from 60. We did catch some good bait and took a look at the waypoint list. 17 miles south, 42 miles north, or 37 miles east to 200’, those were the options as we saw them. Eastbound didn’t want to hit the south #‘s b/c they were dove recently and the report wasn’t great. We opted for 37 east to 200’. We went and arrived at 12:30. Got 4 grouper and a bunch of bo-bo’s. The fan turned on around 2PM and the bite shut off instantly. Took a three hour beating, back to the dock @ 6PM. Long day but we got a few.
The picture doesn’t do it justice. A stud of 27#.
A couple of these, 10# & 13#
and a 8# scamp. Only the 2 of us on the boat. The bite was furious for the 1 1/2 hours we were there. To bad for all the AJ’s, but atleast we got a few.
No, but there were a few at the dock when we got back…
They must have beat me home!
This little ribbing does not coincide with the fact that a day last month, I went offshore in a 20ft Pioneer while you stayed home with your 25ft contender all weekend even though it’d mean you weren’t uh… how should I say this?.. "contend"ing in a tournament…
Congratz to scootin4propvents for forgetting about that day and others…
And joking aside, congratz on the grouper and a safe trip, Courtland.
