STONER(1-28-10)Forgot the Ballyhoo...

This is out of hand as usual.

I’ll state my thoughts to be clear, not that anyone cares, but here it is. I try not to have any preconceived notion as to how to catch fish. I am fortunate enough to spend many hours on the water and can try many different things. I enjoy fishing the same way I enjoy business. When I think or decide to implement a “new” system(for me), whether borrowed or totally new, that is the exciting part. Seeing it work, fine tuning and pinpointing the system and refining it to perfection is where it is at for me. To me there is NO fun in the “status quo”. If you know that bluegill eat crickets it is no big surprise when you catch one on a cricket. If you load the boat consistently a certain way, that’s great, and that is where most people stop being creative. Most of your charter guys are this way, atleast when clients are on the boat, I sure they are always looking for the edge on the off days.

Don’t get me wrong, I love to load the boat down with tasty critters and some days that is the goal. But my main goal is to see people enjoy their time. If you have to tell somebody to “smile for the picture” you should try some new tactics.

We weren’t posing- we were stoked. Of course some of my posts are for bragging rights that is part of the male ego, can’t escape it. I don’t fish for you all, I fish for me, I am selfish, and want to enjoy my time on the water. I truly feel you get out of life what you put in. I do hope that others are able to learn and maybe have an awesome experience because of some information I gave. There is no better reason to post than that- regardless of how many people learn something.

I don’t know if you all get out much on the internet but there are many other sites that will tell you how to do it from hook-line-to sinker. But you still have to do it. That is where most people will fall short. Just like business- if it were easy everyone would do it.

Well said sir dont you owe me a trip:smiley:

Yes, based on the last time I would say I do. You do need to be a little more committed though. A definite yes would have made a difference. None the less your welcome anytime, I’ll be sure to let you know before the next one. Thanks for understanding.

Skinneee…this will be my final thought on this subject…you missed my point obviously…I could care less if you have a secret about fishing as I stated above, it’s not about that…it’s about the attitude younger gentlemen in general have(what’s in it for me) that shows what you’re truly made of…

And you summed up my attitude from one line that I wrote under a "reason why people may" list... Nice! It doesn't sound to me like you need to know any secrets. You already have it all figured out!!!

Nice work on the tuna Courtland…and we all appreciate the you sharing your baits and techniques.

Looking to buy some new spinning outfits… Can you tell me what kind of spinning reels you used catching the tuna ? One has green braid and the other has gold braid. What kinda rods are those…?

Thanks again…

Everytime Dandaman tries something new on my boat, I end up with stitches or a hook in my leg! JK, But I do want to get a BFT on spinning gear, so we will give this a shot for sure out of Sav.

I was asked by Sellsfish and rhuse to pull together an Upstate bus. I am looking at our options for this now.

I would also encourage you and courtland to offer an option for a quarter or half ride option so that those of us who don’t have the money stacked up like pancakes can participate as well.

Skinneee…I immediately forwarded a bus seat check to Courtland after being asked to show “what I was made” of by Scootin…happy to do so, even tho I no longer fish offshore…I thank you and others like Courtland who are willing to “step-up” on all fishermen’s behalf… I sincerely hope that others who come here and gripe and complain will also step up to the plate…

I observed the show from another boat and it looked like alot of fun. Not pointing the finger at courtland, yall seemed to keep to yourselves, but some of the other boats were charging right through the schools then casting, pushing them down. If this is going to become popular which I am defenatly going to try just remember how spookey these fish can get. I think we ended up with 9 fat ones. Nice job though! I would love to get one on the fly rod.

You are absolutely right about running them down! We did try to stay away from everyone or tucked behind the commercials, out of the way. We idled around at 1-2 mph popping behind the boat then eventually the fish would pop up close enough to cast to. Chasing them down is not going to do you any good, and will do more harm than good. Good point!

Sorry about the mystery fish that dumped you!

What’s all this?

Looks like you fellas had a big time, thanks for sharing.

I’m green with envy wishing I was there even if it was just to take the pictures.

We have just as many donations as riders. If someone wants to go and WILL go I will pay your share if you can’t come up with the money. Let me know FOR SURE, not just lip service for internet points and I will happily and descretely(sp) get you on.

I like to think about $100 this way… I easily spend more than that on ONE fishing trip… These guys are trying to STOP fishing… If we don’t put up a good showing, then you might not be getting a chance to spend that $100 next year anyway. Is $100 worth it to you to preserve fishing for your children? These guys are talking about large area closures until year 2045. How old will you and your children be then???

Don’t think of it as $100 that you could have spent on something else for yourself. Think of it as something that you have to do if you want to keep fishing.

If the IRS told you to cough up $100 today, I bet you could do it. Think of this as “fishing tax”.

I know what you are saying about the $100 but the money is not the issue as much as having boots on the ground. I may be wrong but you may end up with more seats than riders if we all chip in but many can’t actually ride.

If that is the case I will have the bus driver stop and load the bus with bums from an underpass somewhere. That is what the extra t-shirts are for. Let’s get the bus paid for and worry about loading it up later. If it doesn’t roll you get the $$$ back anyway.

First conservation groups targeted commercials with the help of recs. Now they are targeting offshore rec fishermen. Guess whats next…inshore rec fishermen.

I do a lot of self conservation, but whats happening now is bad all around. You did the right thing for the youth and the future of rec fishing.

Scootin…enough talk already…Courtland has generously offered to do the heavy lifting, let’s let him handle specifics…again, I ask you if you are gonna hide behind your keyboard or will you show us what you are truly made of…you took it upon yourself to challenge me and I immediately engaged…now, sir,it’s your turn…and I challenge anyone else who loves fishing to “man-up” also…if the stack of pancakes isn’t as tall as others then put a few pancakes together…

IF we can not get a bus/group from the upstate to go I will contribute to the Charleston bus. I plan on contacting the GSSC president tomorrow morning to try to get a group of club members lined up.

One way or the other I will chip in.
