Really?

Wow!! I go shoot ducks for a week in Tn and look what happens. The ledge will never be the same. Courtland you better have fenders for both sides of the boat. One set for the trollers and one set for the pluggers. Better yet maybe just get a mothership to take all of your so-called friends out on. Your going to be cornholed like never before. I think I may puke! Trash can lids and pait ball guns will be the weapons of choice. That is one hell of a blackfin though! There goes the neighborhood.

What ledge? Just cause you know where I was doesn’t mean everyone does. You can do this anywhere you see fish. Any kind of fish as well. Are you telling me you don’t want any of the OTI and Gibbs plug shipments I have coming in? They are for friends only…

Kumbaya my lord kumbaya, people will be running and gunn’ up on schools and spooking everything in the ocean. there will be people yelling and screaming at eachother like it’s a weekend at the ross in june. you’ve definately got a lot to learn about protecting a fishery. dood you’ve done some great things with this washington thing, my hat is off to you. on the other hand, i don’t understand what good you’re doing for a fishery by opening up this can of worms. you don’t care if it hurts people that do it for a living, you don’t care if it has a negative impact on a certain spot. there’s been almosr four thousand people read this thread, how many do you think didn’t know about the spot before you started posting. how many do now? how many people will be courteous and not cut in front of a troller that has a line on a school or a set of numbers? will trollers be able to stay away from a dead boat full of pluggers setting in the midle of a busting school? i talked to a couple of people that were out that day. frowns all the way around. it’s a good technique, there’s no doubt it works. the fish can only take so much presure before they leave, it’s hard enough to get a bite without all of the bs . i think “know it all” said it best on page three. no thanks on the plugs, when you can give a frozen ballyhoo a heartbeet you don’t need them. i don’t mind smelling like the thing i love the most. i personally would rather drag.

let the thrashing begin.

This is funny. You add so little to this site yet you could offer so much. I aware of the “potential” for misuse of my information. Although I clearly stated that run and gun was not an effective means. And if you think this type of fishing is easy then your mistaken.

A few questions for you:

-There were 4 other boats there that day, all four of them had guys casting off the bow by the time we left. Is your friend that frowned on me in the 50’ sportfisher that was in communication with me for most of the day and asked me to fish with him but I declined so we could try these methods? Was it the guys in the 19’(yeah that’s right)with a single motor that were high speed trolling pushing all the fish down? Or was it the charter out of Beaufort, that I won’t name, b/c he ran at every splash he saw, poor at best? Or the one other boat that was out there that ended up with plugs a flying?

-Other than telling people who were on the boat where we were or a few LOCAL fisherman THAT FISH THERE regularly, how will someone know that spot? Are you going to tell? As a matter of fact the more you make of “THE SPOT” the more interest YOU will bring!

-If I’m dead in the water and you can’t NOT hit me with your boat you’ve got no business being out there(no question here)

-Do you think that our method of fishing is easier than yours? More productive? And therefore more people will catch YOUR fish?

The issue at hand here is whether I should have kept this a secret from the masses.

-How many fishable days are there at this spot a year?

-Do they all come on a weekend when people can go?

-Do you own your own boat?Pay for a slip? Fuel? Or just put the lines where the captain tells you?

I know you can fish, but really, loading the box with blackfin isn’t what drives me. Having fun is and that is something you seem to be missing out on. Come fishing with me sometime(for free of course) and try it,it’s alot more fun than, “Let the WWWWWWTFB out a few hundred more yards!”

Papa Bear: Cornholing happens because too many people want to fish the same spot, the Ledge is all the way down the coast, PLENTY room for everybody; AND plenty fish for everybody if we just use common sense and spread out which is what most sensible fishermen do, find their own hole, cornholing happens regardless of posts; BUT, I do see your point about pluggers working the schools to death, point well taken. Court posting on here how to work those schools, not too close, and how to be considerate of others, is the BEST way to prevent cornholing in my opinion. The only problem I see with cornholing is the wtf back lines that should not be so wtf back, so as to be considerate of others also. And those lines WILL and maybe should be cut off from time to time, because other cpt’s should not be responsible for anyone fishing 600 yds. back as was stated on this site last Fall. No one should be fighting a fish that far back except maybe a Marlin, and the possibility of landing a Marlin that far back is slim to none anyway. I believe if we share info, and get on the same page, the cornholing problem and the crowding problems will be much easier to solve. Fishermen should be willing to share a good bite when they find one, I’m not suggesting radio talk, or giving #'s, but whoever happens to be in the area should have an equal opportunity to the bite, that’s the unwritten rule on the open seas as I see it, and I have no problem with other boats wanting in on the action; I EXPECT that to happen.

Can I have some #'s to this “ledge” you all speak of? Sounds like the fishing is good there.

I know that I have been fishing offshore for only a few years or so, but don’t these fish stay moving quite a bit? Papa, if Courtland gave out the exact #s, does that guarantee success?? And, if someone happened to find the fish, that is only one part…

These fish were/are not in schools per say. More like marauding packs that move VERY quickly. This is why there were only five boats there on a flat calm day. We hit the right spot on the right day with the right gear. How often does that happen?

If they were “stacked up” on the “ledge” everyone could do it, every time!

It was better kept to your self.

Local Boy, Just having fun.

10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish, all of the posts on courtlandfishing.com can’t change this. To truly be “in the know” takes years of “paying you dues”, hear in the south it really means something when you’re excepted as one of the boyz. You will never get there until you get over yourself. i thought you had a thread that explained why you fished when you talked about egos and some other things, it was very touching. “life is a box of chocolates” you’re the dark brownish black one with that ooy gooy stuff inside that gets throw away with the box. internet sensation, keyboard cowboy or “one of the boyz” you choose.

Don’t take this the wrong way but -Are you saying it is my goal to be accepted by an internet douche like you?

Talk to anyone that knows me, you’ll find out real quick what kind of person I am. Good luck getting your head out of your ass.

Papa Bear {25} posts, Courtland {1441} posts, 'nuf said; Papa Bear fish by yourself, AND keep all your comments and info to yourself you selfish #%^&.

“The big one’s still swimming, let’s go.”

I would hate to see Papa at the G-Town hole in May…100+ boats on any given day. I still can’t believe that all this fuss is over BLACKFIN…WTF? If you would take a day and fish with Courtland, you might find out that he is a great guy and a fun person to fish with. What are you going to do when a dozen boasts start working YOUR weedline?

Courtland…I have greatly enjoyed your posts as well as some others…I don’t fish offshore anymore however I still like it and enjoy hearing about what’s going on…I am amazed at the people who have such a nasty attitude as noted by Papa Whoever above …the fact that you had the ***** to try “popping” like they due up north is admirable…you didn’t give up any secrets or special spots…wtf…the odds of some newbie coming up on a school of tuna feeding on the surface are really small…it’s a big ocean, it would take a newbie years to gain the experience you have…it’s not like a newbie can read this stuff and all of a sudden be an offshore guru…you have to work at it just like I and you and others do…and if they put in the work then I don 't b egrudge them…keep up the good work,I for one am mightily impressed at your moxie and have often wondered why we don’t try things different like they do on the west coast or up north…
