stormy conditions

Just wondering how some of you have done when the surf kicks up. Wind in your face and white water. I am originally from New York and the surf fishing there could get real good in the middle of a nor easter. Basically the wind would blow the small bait close to the beach. However, I would always look for clean water. I am sure the same holds true around here? Thanks again for any info.

Got down to the beach this week and got into some fish. Reds on mullet, sharks on bluefish chunks. I want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their knowledge.

Surfsoneb, congrats on you good day:smiley:. The general rule of thumb around here is NE the least SW the best. The NE winds here make it difficult to catch fish, seems to be less out and the lines will blow back to shore easily if they are blowing , personally when I see 15 and above where I fish its a no go. Saturday is looking good sw at 5 and cloudy, Im going to hit it. Sunday at 15-25 is a no go day wont even waste my time. Thats my personal opinion, Im sure some would disagree. I can look at the waves on a windy day and when they are blowing sideways hard on a ne wind I will "almost always "have a bad day. Hope this helps, and good luck out there.

2x ditto what he said

Thanks. On Long Island they say west is best east is least. Anyway, I think I am gonna give it a go on Sunday. No work. I figure these big fish won’t be around for too much longer. Gotta cash in.
