I caught a coconut at the MI jetty last summer. Actually snagged it as it was floating by about 15 feet away. I have no idea where that thing came from.
Well I have to add one to the list. Braved the wind today and took my son to the Shem Creek pier. I tangled an egret.
He wasn’t hooked, fortunately, just tangled. He flew into my line as I casted. I tried to let him untangle himself as he trotted around, but he just made it worse. I pulled him up on the pier, and cut the line and got him untangled. Released him unharmed, but he was really winded and scared. Just flew off into the marsh grass and flopped on top of it. Should be fine though, I don’t think birds are like fish, such that lactic acid buildup is as likely to kill them in a struggle. I felt kinda bad about it, they are pretty birds and don’t seem to bother anyone/anything.
Egrets aren’t like seagulls when you tangle them, they don’t try to fight back and defend themselves. This one just grunted a few times and had that "please don’t hurt me " look.

Scuba Diver off of Pawleys Pier.
I was using 20 lbish XT and set the hook as hard as I could, and again and again and again later as I was trying to get unhung as I thought he hung me up for a while.
Lots of bubbles when I jerked.
Poor bastard.
My 2nd pelican yesterday. Nearshore reef, nothing out there but me and that stupid bird. He flew right through my line, got tangled then proceeded to shorten my pole by 12".
Flew away with a mudminnow hooked in it’s wing and a foot of leader. Got everything else off him and the tip of my pole is sitting 30ft below.
Caught a 75 HP mercury motor back in the 80’s cat fishing in the Missouri river. No numbers on it and after a few weeks of waiting for someone to claim it became mine. $125.00 later it ran like a champ.
I buddy had a squirrel living in a hole onto of a column in his 100 old house in Mobile. After a few cool snacks, the only way to get him out to foam and fix the hole, was to “fish” him out.
Caught about a 50lb Stingray in a CAST NET. Drug him to the beach so I could C UT him out of the net. I miss that cast net.

I am in the crab group. I have caught two horse shoe crabs in a cast net while shrimping. Made a mess.

I caught my guide in Belize. Was fly fishing for bones when I made a backcast directly behind me and as I came forward, I hear my guide give out a yelp. Buried the fly right into his finger.

Got line around the wing of one of those big fat brown gulls once fishing off Springmaid back when I was going to school. He made a hell of a fuss when I reeled him in and crapped on me and 3-4 people on the pier before we got his mean ass off the line. They will peck the crap out of you. Had to throw a hoodie over him to hold him still and not get nailed.

You can’t catch 'um on the couch!
Had a friend catch the crabs while fish in in Costa Rica! I once caught a motorcycle under a bridge in my cast net while try to catch shad!
