Hey everybody! I go to Edisto Island in late July for a week every year. I am just getting into Stiped Bass fishing but I don’t own a boat Is there anywhere I can fish on or near the island for stripers without a boat? I heard there is a little freshwater access point where largemouth and stiper fishing is good. It was called Also what would be a good tackle setup for them? Like rod, reel line test and lures? Sorry for all the questions.

Change gears for Edisto. You’ll be better off gearing yourself toward spottails, trout, and flounder. Look through these forums, and use the search functions. You’ll find some really good advice from top notch folks.

I’ve never heard stripers even discussed at Edisto in my years of going there. The closest place that I would think is Santee Cooper, but that’s like 100 miles away or so.
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
Posting on a message board all the time doesn’t make you smart. Frankly, it just means you probably need to get a life.
In the past there have been stripers caught up South Edisto river past the Dawhoo cut. Most of the reports have been in the early part of the year.

What EWC and mk said. The only possible way (remote) I can think of, for your situation, would be to go to Wiltown Bluff landing at daylite and throw a Pencil Popper as far across the river as you can. Bob

Would love to hear about stripers at edisto. I’m all ears if you hear any different. You have to go all the way into the black water to get them. During the spawn. Then their name changes too. Rockfish. Bamberg County: bobcat landing. No where near the coast. Has anyone ever caught a striper off the beach? This is a long time tradition on the outer banks in the fall. Edisto?
I’ve got a friend from Bennett’s Point who specializes in stripers around the Ashepoo River area.He guides and usually has his charters in late fall/early winter. My brother caught a 22 1/2 pounder in the Edisto between Jacksonboro and Willtown.
