[font=Lucida Console][font=Century Gothic][font=Andale Mono]I launch out of PR Sound somewhere between Fort Fremont and Bay Point. Last year I found a little spot back in the marsh that’s absolutely slap-full of redfish, trout, and flounder. I was sure that this newfound spot would be extremely productive, however, after a year its only produced a few fish in total. Being a semi-landlocked “lagoon” of sorts, I can see the spots’ tailing and swirling all over, but they ignore any live OR artificial bait I throw at em’. It’s become fairly evident that I simply cannot compete with the thick schools of menhaden, mullet, and shrimp in the area…so I was looking for some advice/pointers on enticing such STUBBORN redfish. I’ve tried artificial shrimp, cajun thunder paddle tails, blue crabs, mullet, and even spinnerbaits. The water’s fairly shallow, probably no more than 6 or 7 feet at the deepest point.
My second question is this: does anybody pay any heed to the Solunar Calendar when it comes to inshore and/or offshore fishing? It works great for hunting and freshwater fishing but I haven’t tested it in saltwater yet. Just wondering if it is useful.
Any help would be appreciated!
