tried the station 16 area of sullivans today and im sure everyone can guess how i did. i yakked out pieces of shad and freshly washed up cownose ray from around 4-8 with no rips at all but at least the 20oz cannonball of a weight i used managed to keep my line to the bottom in the current. also threw out a smaller rod with some squid that did get hit by bait stealers many times and one thing that bit through 50lb spider wire to steal my hook without setting off a rod bell. no shortage of flipper and watched a couple cownoses right near the edgee of the water for about 15 mins…that was my evening entertainment.
Make yourself a gig and put those rays on ice.
1st thing i thought when i saw em was should have bought my cast net
Rays will tear up a cast net in short order.
