Got out to Sullivan’s around 6am this morning with the mindset of it being a rough one due to the forecast calling for heavy rip currents. Got there and the water was GLASS to start the morning.
First few hours were slow, due to the currents pushing all the rigs down the beach. When it finally calmed, I waded out to my ‘honey hole’ and the bite picked up.
From about 9:30 - 11:30, five flounder were caught. Three in the range of 14 1/4" - 15", fourth at 16", and the last one just past 20" which I hooked into and let my nephew (pictured below) reel in. He was happy to have ‘caught’ the biggest one. He’s a natural born fisherman!
Overall, it was a great day of surf fishing with great results. Couldn’t have asked for a better morning!
Great work! Live bait or artificial?
I fish to leave the rest of the world behind. I fish because I respect the fish. I fish because it’s in my DNA.

Live finger mullet caught from the surf. Also netted a BUNCH of horse mullet that were schooled in the 100’s. Lot of action on the water today.
Fantastic day Redfishtailing, that young mans big smile is priceless:smiley:

Indeed. After a slow start this morning, he kept asking what time we were leaving. Once the bite picked up, he wasn’t ready to leave. Have to love his ambition once he seen fish being pulled in.
Nice avatar and Nice flounder!
But maybe easy go a little easier on the gear…most complicated part of your surf fishing trip is your outfit. Just razzin.
