Hit the beach around 9:00 PM, caught some whiting right away and set up two shark rigs. About 30 minutes in my smaller reel (PENN FIERCE 6000) starts ripping out, tried tightening the drag all the way still, kept ripping full speed and boom snapped right before I was spooled…not too long after that my Spinfisher 8500 went off but ended up being a 2-3 foot sharp-nose. Overall great night of fishing again… It’s safe to say it’s officially shark season!
…still wondering what would have happen if that first bite was on my spinfisher…
Are you guys near the grillage or further down

I love how the bottom features show up in that aerial photo
The shark in your pic looks to be 4-6’, could be distance from camera???
What size and species bait do you prefer???

It’s most likely the camera angle, as it was only about 3 feet long. I tried putting the pliers next to it as a reference. As far as bait, I use a fresh caught 8-10 inch whiting which I usually cut in half and use both halves…this is usually the easiest since whiting are really easy to catch from the surf.
Thanks for the info! I love google earth too haha

not sharpnose, no white spots on body and too bulky- looks like maybe a blacknose.
How about a Fine Tooth Shark? Is that a possibility?
