Sullivan's Island 5/4/16

71" Blacktip shark

Caught at dead low tide with half whiting chunk.

Awesome shark!

Awesome catch! I’ll bet that was a blast. Whiting has been getting me bites as well. And I’ve been noticing the low tide tendency… Is that normal? Or is it the time of year? This is my first year living this close to the ocean and I feel like I’m finding out I don’t know squat and I’m relearning everything I thought I knew about surf fishing…

Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

That is a big one, nice job did you yak or cast . Congratulations Imnotfishy!:sunglasses:

Thanks fellas. It was caught on a casted 12’ ugly stick with the 10500 spinfisher and a homemade shark rig. Its nice to finally get one on the board for this season. As far as low tide goes, it’s all about what your targeting and where your fishing. I know from personal experience that shark fishing on Sullivan’s is best at low tide, however mid-higher tides offer some nice troughs for other species of fish, so its all about what your targeting there.

Ps: if there’s anyone out there with a kayak trying to team up please PM me.

Nice fish! Glad the tippers are here, I was getting bored with all the sand tigers lol

I saw some kayaks the other day at Walmart for less than 300.00. I don’t really know much about them so not sure on Quality. Imnotfishy what pound test mono top shot do you use? Thanks for all the advice posted earlier.

No problem, I actually just use straight braid on all my reels… I have been looking to spool my big senator with 200 yards of top shot but haven’t gotten around to it.
