Regarding stingray punctures, I certainly agree it’s one of the most painful things you can experience, but I have a fix for the wound that was told to me by an EMT guy years ago. Simply make a paste from powdered meat tenderizer and rubbing alcohol and apply it directly to the wound. The relief is almost instant. Part two, however, is a raging infection you can sometimes get from a deep ray puncture. I’ve had that, too, and the cure for that is a trip to the Doc for antibiotics.

Hot water is the best for most stingray’s venom, and a puncture is more likely to get infected then a gash but thoroughly washing out is good at preventing infection. but they do leave a nice scare.

Wow. Because I respect Stan and his team for what they do, and I don’t “baby”? shark fish, I will be polite. If I rig my gear with heavy line, steel leaders, big honkin’ hooks, use big nasty baits, go to the beach, get my bait out 5000 yards, and catch 3-5’ sharks all day long. Is that NOT “shark” fishing? Ooohhh…that would be shark catching! And yes, I read into your comment, but it’s ok. I beleive we all understand.

“Don’t let famous make you infamous” just a little tip from an old guy.

I challenge you to get your bait out 5000 yards

Fine,50 yards? Same results. I hope you get the point.

“If it were catching, Everyone would be good at it.”

It was meant as no offense to anyone, we used to catch the small sharks only too, you have to start somewhere. However once you do catch the bigger ones you will understand that I wasn’t being offensive. The amount of effort, time, and preparation in catching the larger ones is simply not using surf rods and live whiting or half a whiting, which we would still classify as surf fishing even if you catch 5 or 6’ blacktips.
