left the landing at around 5am. one engine started acting up about 20 miles out but decided to push out anyways since it was such great weather, flat. passed a floating tree in about 140’ and 66deg. figured we’d give it a try. made several passes with nothing. spades were stacked up heavy underneath it. pushed on out to the sow. first hit was a short strike but free bailed it and got him to take and then another bigger fish, 22lbs. landed both. pushed out to about 400’ with not other strikes and headed back in. picked up another good size, 25lb, at about 220’. worked our way south to the deli staying between 200’ and 180, but nothing. started to troll back in around 2:30 because of the bum engine and ran into a school at about 155’. mostly small but managed to land 2/3. passed back through but nothing but short strikes. putted back home on one engine, great ride! never found any temp breaks and the highest water temp was 76.2 right as we were finishing up. chatter on the radio talked of one sail, mostly slow, and all of the action around the 200’ line.
