I took my daughter and granddaughter out to the north end of Folly Sunday and fished the afternoon rising tide. Fished 2 spots that looked great with deep pools and ditches near rock groins. We only managed 2 small whiting. Not even one little shark. Pretty strong wind coming out of the south and current was strong. It took 5-6 ounces to keep rigs down. Used fresh local shrimp on drop rigs and cut up one whiting and baited the drum rod with no results. I guess it getting too hot. I think we’ll try either an early morning or late evening trip next time.
the better whiting seem to move shallow and to the surf when it’s this hot- early morning on the front beach would be my favorite choice, especially next weekend when it’s a small range and early rising tide at first light.
Thanks for that info sir. We’ll give it a go. I’m off all next week, so I hope to get a least a couple of trips in.

gladly! given your status as a grandfather, there’s no need to call me “sir”, sir!
my father started me surf fishing the north folly 29 years ago, and now it’s my turn to pay it forward… I hope the deeper troughs just a little past the last public access bring you much luck next week.
No baby Sharks Jack? I must have caught them all the past two weeks for you.
To our surprise, no baby sharks D. Strange day. There were several folks on either side of me. I didn’t see much of anything caught. Last time we were out there we couldn’t keep the little sharks off our bait.

fishing was very slow for us sunday evening on edisto. fished 6-10pm, only managed 2 baby sharks, 1 whiting, 1 nice 3-3.5’ shark at dark. couldn’t believe we didn’t get any sharpnoses.
Ive caught so many baby sharks this week. One red and a blue crab…
