Sunday folly

Hit the lighthouse end of folly. Lots of people fishing some guys feeling the need to have 20 rods out lol. I fished two rods and did pretty well. Lots of whiting, blue fish a nice trout that was over legal limit but I didn’t know the legal limit at the time so I let go. Water was a cool blue green. Looked like the Caribbean! I caught a nice 18 inch black drum that made a excellent dinner. All others released.

Real nice blackie right there, great eating. Unless it’s dead slow I can’t fish more than two rods effectively anyway. Good work!

Hello,

Was this at the end of the paved walkway out to the lighthouse? I have gone out there a few times and I am fishing there this weekend. I only ask because I am taking my family out there this weekend for our first fishing of the spring. Not trying to steal any secret spots or anything. I was just wondering. Thanks!

How far are you casting out? During low or high tide?

Trout over the legal limit, do tell. As far as I know just have to be over 14" TL.

Not sure there are really any secret spots on folly but I did not fish on the end by the light house. I fished between the rocks and the pilings facing the Atlantic. Go to the end of the area you can drive and take the path to the right to the ocean and you can see where I was. Fish seemed to be at all depths. Larger whiting were out deeper than I usually fish and I noticed this by watching others. I caught the Black drum near the pilings and not very deep. They tend to like structure I have found. As for my legal limit on the trout I think I may have worded that incorrectly I met to say that the fish was legal as a keeper but I did not know the minimum length it need to be. If you haven’t gone to look at the water at Folly you are truly missing out its amazing! Blue and Green not muddy like usual. Go to the washout and just look, you swear your in the Caribbean!

Rafman sorry I forgot to add it was near high tide.
