Where were you fishing at, and what kind of bait were you using? That big red looks nice.

Not Follyā¦ fresh shrimp always. The Red bite was a pleasant suprise. The 12-13 rays were not. Was on the beach maybe 4hrs. 11:30- 3:30. Did move around some searching for the āHOLEā. Hip waders were a must, cold water!

What donāt you like about Folly, I think you have mentioned this beforeā¦

I love Folly, donāt mean to sound otherwise. Maybe Iām trying to be vague? Kind of like blacking out the landscape in a photo. I currently fish IOP, have been for the past 3 seasons or so. The spots weāve found have been producing nice stringers. Can not wait till the Big Whiting start coming back. Caught many last spring pushinā 2lbs. Anybody know where to catch mole crabs/sand fleas this spring?
My dad and I used to always fish IOP, but we started fishing Breach Inlet more and more, and Sullivans Island a few times. We usually use squid. Usually caught whiting mostly, but I have yet to catch a nice red like that. We hook up with stingrays and smaller black tips a lot too. I actually caught a horseshoe crab in Breach Inlet before. No lie.

I grew up in SC surf fishing from the Myrtle Beach to Cherry Grove area. Tuff surf fishing conditions at best. Very flat. Cuts and holes are tough to spot. Most times you have to be able to hit a truck bed at 30-50 yards. Bait of choice there is Blood Worms. Canāt get them here in Charleston. I have never fished Squid, go figure. Have never been a fan of dead mullet, kind of nasty. Cut bait for me is what ever I am catching at the time. Usually whiting, spot, croaker or pinfish. I donāt target Sharks and Rays, so I shy away from soaking cut bait anyway, unless the big Specks are in the surf zone . I wish I could find a consistent spot to catch Mole Crabs, very good āBigā Whiting and Pompano bait. Used to find them on North Folly until the previous renourishment some years ago.
Good Luck!
