I’m gonna be fishing on Edisto Beach the first week in March. This is my first time there. Does anyone know what is biting this time of year? Any bait tips? Good locations?
Thanks!

Use shrimp or cut bait…fish up in the rocks on one of the groins as the tide is rising …we catch black drum that get up in the groins to feed…even on a high tide and a falling tide.
You will lose lots of tackle so bring plenty. Fishing just off of the groins you will probably catch a shark or two and rays. Occasionally but rarely you might pick up a spot tail.
Good luck!! I live in Edisto and have’t tried to fish the beach yet. Let us know how you do
Not much happening on the beach right now. Fish will bite, but slow. I surf fished last summer around the 300 block during high tide on calm days and had good luck using whole shrimp. March may be trickier.
If your’re up for the hike from the state park, jeremy inlet is great.
I have seen people fishing down on the sound side near Big Bay creek there is a deep hole out there.
Yeah I was planning to head up to Jeremy Inlet. Thanks for the tips. Is it true that theres not much tackle selection on the island?
Piggly Wiggly has most of what you’ll need for fishing the surf or inlets…leaders, weights, hooks, floats, etc. Bell Bouys seafood has fresh shrimp, or as fresh as you can get this time of year. One of those stores across from the Fairfield resort sometimes has live mud minnows. One of the stores on the way on the left sometimes has mud minnows or frozen bait, I guess depending on who owns it at the time. Either “The Edistoian” or “Horizon” I think they are. And a little further a way, or on the way in Ravenel, the True Value harware store has had mud minnows in the past.
