Surf Fishing Question

Hello everyone,
I have a couple questions about surf fishing. When is the best time of year to catch nice sized whiting and other surf species? Also when will the pompano show up in the surf on the South Carolina coast? Lastly where are some of the best places to surf fish in the Sullivans Island or IOP area? All responses are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome Trent. Maybe we can come up with a few answers. 1)when? The bigger Whiting should be sowing up now! Water temp is right at 59-60. other species, will be mixed in as well. 2) Pompano? not till the surf temp gets closer to 75-80. 3) where? Wow…not to be vague but there are many good spots from Cape Island to Hilton Head. My personal opinion IOP and Folly would be my first/second pics. I see you are in columbia? That in itself can be a challenge, unless you can come down EVERY weekend. I don’t fish Sullivan’s very often TOO MANY FRIGGIN DOGS RUNNING EVERYWHERE!! Edisto is another great area. Hunting Island is excellent. Best bet for a quick weekend trip hit the Folly pier. Always something bittin’ there.

My advice…when you do hit the beach fish hard, don’t get discouraged. You won’t catch anything with no bait in the water.

Good luck! Let us know when you come down.

I’m from Cola as well. Hit me up sometime and we can carpool. Makes the drive a lot more bearable when you’ve got someone to talk to and split gas with

There’s a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

I live in Columbia but I have a house in Sullivans Island and I go down there very often. I will be down there toward the end of next week and throught the weekend. Thanks for the responses.
