Surf Fishing Report

After some rough seas and dodging storms, finally got some surf fishing in targeting pampanos. Released most but had to keep a few for dinner.

Yea boy! That’s some good eating there.

Catch them on shrimp or fleas?

Do you mind sharing some tips with the board?

I’ve caught 1-2 pompano on most of my surf trips, but never got into #s like that.

I make my own double/three drop rigs following the basic guide for pompano rigs, so I’ve got that part down. Using fresh shrimps if available at Crosbys.

Got a feeling that I might be casting a little to far.

TIA

Started with sand fleas, but swiched to fresh shrimp.

Fished ultra light rod/reel with ultra light tackle.

Small hooks, small pieces of shrimp, and fished the “suds”.

Thanks…

I make my own rigs with 40lb mono as the main line and then tie an overhand knot where I place my leaders. I use 15lb mono tide to very small snelled hooks and above the hook is an orange bead. I know the reason behind the orange bead and I still use it even though I’m not fishing sand fleas.

I’ve probably been casting too far out. Thanks for the info!

What beach? I would love to catch some pomps on my Magic Wand.

Yeah please help us out! What beach? Could you specify on your rig? Where the he// do you get sand fleas??

What beach? They have been catching some studs up on Hatteras and Ocracoke this summer. I haven’t been able to find many sand fleas on the beaches here.Beach nourishment isn’t very good for them.
