Can anyone tell me how to use a rod with a heavy wait cast out past the breakers and then run live bait on a different rod that won’t cast that far out? I have seen this done on Kingfisher Inn pier but we will be fishing from the surf this weekend at Huntington Beach. Thanks, Coach B Herring

the anchor rod will not give you enough angle.tried a few years back.15ft rod with a 5ft sand spike.the bait didn’t get near the breakers.

sharky’s right. You can’t get the elevation from the beach. I tried it too and the waves just wash the bait in. Besides, there’s more to catch in the surf.
