Surf Fishing

What has the fishing been like in the surf or from the bank in the creeks. Not bringing the boat this week but the kids still want to wet a hook.

Sharks and whiting in the surf using squid or cut mullet. Plenty of bait in the creeks. Jason’s Lake at Botany Bay is also a good option. Fun to catch and release there. Plenty of flounder, red and black drum using shrimp or cut mullet. Good luck!

Being on the water is a blessing, catching fish is a bonus!

Two weeks ago the whiting in the surf were as fast as you could go. They were not far out at all - as in - in the froth just deep enough to not have the bait come out of the water when the waves rush back out. Squid on a 2 hook surf rig. Caught a few dogfish and small spottails as well.

Thanks for the info

Okay here’s a short report but nothing to brag about here. Fished the surf in two different spots caught some Croaker’s and Stingray’s.The bites are slow coming. Gonna take the kids to the beach at Botany Bay tommorow and try it there. I’m interested in seeing that area last time I was there was before the land trust took over. We used to put the old Jon boat in at Red’s and man did we have some good times down there.
