4-5 turns around the spool plus length from reel to weight. It will vary a little depending on what type of cast you are using.

I normally make 8 wraps around the spool. Most casting competitions require 8 wraps so I use that rule for fishing as well. Primo casting championship will be held in Myrtle Beach in 2 months. Come on down and compete.

I got a Crigg rod I like its a 13 footer Just don’t go too stiff. Rod needs to load up good when casted.
