I am looking to replace 2 of my old 9 ft. rods with something a little lighter. They will be paired with 6000 series spinning reels. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
I like Ande & Tsunami Five Star Spinning Rods. I have been using them for the past 4 tears or so & have had no problems. Best thing is they are very affordable.
I bought a couple 9’ Okuma Longitude last year. Haven’t had chance to fish them much but seem to be a solid rod. Can’t beat them for $50.

For the price and warranty check out the L.L. Bean surf rods spinning. They are built just like the croix mojo surf.
Seems we have a couple of members that like the Okuma Longitude for the money. PM Stevo he has used them. Some others that people like are Tica, Tsunami, Star and St. Croix rods. They offer several different lines in several price ranges. From 1 yr. warranty, 5 yr. warranty, and some of the top of the line rods offer life time warranties. Good to get a rod that will throw a minimum of 6 ounces/ medium heavy. It’s always nice to get to see what your buying and put hands on it. Even better you can take your reel in and try it on a few rods. Not many people carry a whole lot of surf rods locally. I have seen them at both Haddrels stores and Palmetto State Armory. Good luck Mr. Taylor:smiley: A few more weeks and the surf starts to perk up!!!
I use the Okuma Longitude and Ocean Master 12’s for my king rigs. The Okuma is a decent rod. The Oceanmaster is a bit stronger with handling weight.
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
I used the okuma longitude 10ft last year. Solid rod could cast 8oz no prob but its really stiff. The more experienced i get at fishing the more im wanting a little more give in my rod. Also i feel like my spider weights come out of the sand when there is no give in the tip of the rod. I bought a tsunami saphire 10ft surf rod 3-6oz. So far its a nice rod and i like the shrink wrap handle better then cork and the tip is more flexible. Also the Tsunami saphire is coated in fiberglass and not just straight graphite. I also bought the 12ft okuma longitude for shark fishing and love it so far.
Carolina Cast Pro rods
Rods range from 8-15ft
Been using them for years and have never had an issue.

Nicest stock rods I have seen are the st Croix mojo. I fish star rods as a compromise. Sometimes there are salmon rods on clearance that are a good match for medium weight rigs. Mostly conventional though. Just a thought if your looking for economics.
Thanks Gentleman for all of the recommendations !

Big fan of the Penn Prevails. I’ve got 3. Have had 2 of them for 3 years with no complaints.
Thanks Justin !
