Surf Suggestions

I recently sold my boat and will be looking to fish from the surf again for a little while. I was able to get out a few times last year and each trip ended in absolute frustration after being crowded out. Can anyone point me in the direction of a few areas to look that may not be as busy this time of year? I had a couple of spots that were productive and rarely fished by others that have since been taken over. Not looking for anyone’s spot, just an idea of where I can go and be in my element for a little bit without the crowds.

Unfortunately, at this time until early to mid september, any time after 9 is a terrible time to fish due to crowding. just cant get away from them. I will say though, while productivity is off and on, if you can get on the the north end of IOP inside the resort, it is less busy there as it’s only open to resort guests. Since I work there occasionally, i go there most of the time just because it is less busy.

if that is not an option, south end of IOP around the point didn’t used to be too bad. basically between 2nd and 8th street. Trouble is finding parking at times.

Appreciate the tip. Don’t think the resort is an option for me.I was just curious if there were areas that were less packed than others. Last couple of times I’ve been out I had issues with people swimming right under my lines. Once while I was the only person on the beach. I’m not much for arguing with people. Just want to get out and wet a line and decompress a little.

I go to areas that pose challenges such as sea walls or rocks that limit easy access. Normally people don’t want to hop over the walls or rocks 30 plus times to cast

Fish at night. Fish come in close. Use red or green light if you need light.

Thanks all. Night time might be my best bet. I’m taking my first vacation in 3 years next week and plan to use my time wisely.

Do a “search” on reading the surf and look for rips and troughs. Look/scout over beach at low tide. Go at daylight and out at 9:00.

I hear ya about arguing. That’s why im typically done by 9 or 10am just not worth dealing with the entitled people (locals and tourists) thinking they deserve to be in the water where ever they want even though I have been set up and catching fish for well over an hour haha.

good thing is that there is tons of beach line here and I can always move if I need to without much fuss.

I tried out by Ft Moultrie a little Monday. Not many people out thankfully. I’ll find me a spot somewhere eventually. Appreciate all the replies.

Go to Edisto State park. The beach access for bathers opens at 8 am. When you hit the beach walk north 200 -300 yards. The bathers are going to fill in close to the access and spread out from there. By the time they get to you, it will be time to go home. Best on Weekdays.
Fishbite bloodworms works best for me on this beach. Throw one long and one short. Blue pack Small hooks and small pieces of bait.

Daufuskie Island if you can get there…

I’d rather fish than eat.
