Well since it seems like the other tournament is not likely going to happen, I want to put together a tournament for fun and a little bragging rights. Like the winners gets a title for their signature to rep it. Title of the tournament could be Charleston Surf Fishing tournament winners signature would have CFS Champ 2015. Categories would be for every fish with big fish taking the categories 1st place points All fish would be measured by inches and if the fish is within a half inch of the the winner it is a tie and both get 1st place points. Points would vary depending on species.
drum/flounder/trout/sheeps- 5, piece, 10 for, third 15 for 2nd 20
for first
Rays- 2, apiece, 5 for third, 10 for 2nd, 15 for first
Sharks- under 3ft 2, a piece, over 3ft under 6ft 10, 6ft and over 15 points
Croaker/whiting/pompano and all other fish- 2, a piece 5 for third 10 for 2nd15 for first
I don’t know how y’all would like to do areas but I like the Idea of having a object that proves it was caught during the tournament so we can all fish our spots. If y’all want to do prizes than we could work on getting some sponsors and could pool some funds together from participants. I would like to set this up for late September or maybe October based on yalls readiness and the tide tables so we can have optimal conditions and lots of participants.
Please respond quick and let me know if you are down so I know what to expect and whether or not to put this plan in to gear. If it goes well than we can start putting these together more often. Please express any suggestions or ideas of how this tournament could be improved or changed.

Good idea though, sounds fun. Maybe do the old fashioned take a picture with a newpaper thing. I’d love to play but my time is limited.

First of all great idea good to see others fired up about surf fishing I applaud your effort 40. Im still trying to find a path for myself, its tough. I would have to catch 15 reds to match the sharks that Imnotfishy put on the board the other day which is highly unlikely or get the biggest red which is also highly unlikely seeing how many people would be fishing. Im not sure about needing 5 reds to beat the biggest whiting. Is pier fishing a part of this because if so its a wrap for king of the pier if those giant reds are running then. Thats a complement king of the pier. He would easily put 100 pts on the board meaning I would need 20 reds, which is safe to say isnt happening. I vote 10 pts per red-then things look possible, people could also with out a doubt cheat and Im not saying that most are like that but Im sure out of all the people we have one or two will start freezing fish tomorrow . Very interesting, Im all for it, may need a tweek or two but its pretty good stuff. Are professionals part of this contest? Rays deduct 10 pts.

Im always down for some competition. That being said im definitely interested, it just seems it would be hard to get everyone schedules to align… its hard enough getting a 3-4 man group together for some sharking.
So were allowed groups- nice catch the other day imnotfishy pretty pretty good.

Well I think Saturday 9/26/15 would be a good day to do the tournament. Both the Tidal Coefficient and Solunar Lunar activity are very high and rising which is good for fishing and the tides times are nice as well, High tide at 6:30ish in the AM and low tide at 12:45ish PM so we could do the tournament with a 6:00AM to 6:00PM time limit to be able to fish both tides. All pictures would have to be submited within those times to count for tournament.

Sounds like a plan. I supose we can work out some more details; where to send pics? date/time verification? length, weight both? point system? trash fish and bycatch included? all beaches, lowcountry beaches? Yakin’ okay? Teams? boating to a secluded beach?..I know “just for fun”…but you know how male humans are.

Anyone opposed to making a little fish pool? Say everyone puts in five bucks and divide it among the top three? I know this is just for fun but why not.
I just assumed it would be an entry fee , 20-25 per person and split the fees among top 3 accordingly to place. No entry fee is like playing the free roll poker games, no one takes it serious and most legit players wouldn’t bother.
