Targeting Jacks

Think I spotted some jack crevelles the other day.
Now I am curious is there anyway you can keep them in one place? Chumming or otherwise?
Does anyone anchor for them?
The ones I have seen seem to be drifting and moving with menhaden. I guess I could drift, too.
They move erratically and pop up here and there.

Seems that people either catch them on accident, get lucky, target them, or all of the above.

Just seeking any advice if you have it.

.00 clark spoon - 2 0n the surface - 2 deep on planers. Troll at about 9 kts don’t drive through them on the surface - work the edges -

I’ll try it thanks!

We got into them down in Beaufort about a month ago. They did exactly as you said popping up eradically feeding on jelly balls. We caught several Lady fish while targeting them as well. Also saw a really nice Tarpon in the mix. Didn’t get lucky with it unfortunately. We caught the Jacks on top water spooks. Those things fight like bull dogs.Great fun!

Probably not feeding on jelly balls they are on a strict fish diet when they get big. Even the smalls ones aren’t going to eat jelly balls…when they get fired up they will eat just about anything moving.

Yep, we caught some nice ones right in the surf slinging hopkins lures in GC some years back in Sept…
