Team Moncks Corner Marine Bottom Report -big gag!

Been planning this trip for quite some time. We put a lot of work into it and got a lot of help from others…

I need to thank Purpose One for teaching me so much about fishing hard like we did today. I personally wanted to do better, but the target species fish for our fish-off just weren’t biting well, and we lost quite a few big fish when they did bite. A few weren’t missed though. :sunglasses:. Also need to thank Sellsfish for sharing lots of advice and bouncing ideas back and forth off of (he bounces a lot more off me than I bounce off him). And I need to thank my crew and Pallet, who loaned me his boat today. Then, my wonderful girlfriend has helped me more than I ever knew possible. I could say more, but I have to keep in mind this is a fishing website.

We had a tough day, and we all worked our butts off. Maybe it will pay off somehow. We gave it all we had, and got some nice fish. A few personal bests for several of us…

Scoutin4Goodies and Jerms more pix from today. Some pix of some very cool fish- caught and released and kept fish.

MCMarine had the hot hand; that is for sure. He has a trident gag that we will weigh in tomorrow along with some other things. :imp:

I will weigh a cobia in for the Trident as well. It is the biggest I have ever caught, and I got it out of 160ft of water. Pretty wild.

MCMarine, on top of the huge gag that I’m sure is his best, also caught ARS and scampers.

Scootin4newleaders got his personal best red grouper too I believe.

Released many short ARS and a few short grouper I think. Can’t really remember. We fished too hard, and I’ve got no more energy. A few things turned against us, but we fought through them and got some good fish in the boxes.

Fish-Off eligible species:

1 charcoal belly gag grouper
2 scamp grouper
1 red grouper
3 ARS

Longer than the inside of this 150qt cooler!

Many more pics and comentary to come, but I have to get to work. Thanks for those who checked up on me last night. I got in to Greenville at 2:30, nothing like 24hrs of it.

If you are not the lead dog, the view is all the same.

I think you forgot to thank God, your parents, and your agent.

That grouper looks about the same size as the one we caught a few weeks back may be a little smaller.

MCMarine and I were talking when we got back. The subject came up that he and I would have never been able to do what we did about 2 years ago. Sells and P1 all but directly led to what we got yesterday; I just wanted to let them know is all. But Greg1 is right; I did forget to thank God. Sorry about that.

Scootin, email me all the pix, and I will photobucket them if you don’t have time. Going to clean the boat now.

Luke 8:22-25

Here are a few pics. I have more and hopefully Jerms’s video turned out. May take some editing for some improper grammar.

Report:

Left landing at 3am headed to Phin’s snapper spot, caught our keeper snapper there plus a bunch of 18 inchers. Watched the sun come up.

Moved to Phin’s grouper spot caught a few grouper there and watched a HUGE king I mean HUGE. Take MCs prise fishing rod right out of his hands. MC went right fish went left drag was more than he could stand in the position he was in. gone.

Moved to one of my spots, caught cobia, big shark and AJs.

Moved to Phin scamp hole, MC put the big boy in the boat and I caught my red.

Headed to Phin scamp 2 hole. Not much going, headed in at 9pm.

Ride out was beautiful and stayed nice all day till about 6. Ride home was VERY WET!!!

Fished 80-170 feet, live bait, squid, and sardines were baits of choice.

MC needs to change his user name to Circle hook Joe! He put on a class in circle hook bottom fishing. He was on FIRE! Glad he was on our boat.

Good time had by all. Lets do it again soon, just not 20 hours this time:smiley:

What is left of MCs leader after the grouper battle.

Got a few more pics I will post later.

If you are not the lead dog, the view is all the same.
