Big thanksgiving meal with Family around mid day able to get in the road around 4PM arrive at 6 pm get boat and gear ready up@ 6 AM, @ Marina 6:30 AM. only problem power trim would not work. Gus G. who’s putting his boat in ahead of me fishing alone suggest that we fish out of his boat so I park mine grab several rods and the tackel box and off we go. Gus is the best when it comes to trout @ Edisto 1st drop we catch maybe 20 fish, Gus 15 me maybe 5 bite slows move to 2nd drop again 20 fish or more with Gus way in the lead move again we change from popping corks to jigs I do a little better maybe 50-50. Anyway Friday a big day most trout ever. Fished with Gus again Sat my boat Trim working same area minium 80 fish. Sunday on my own of course I fished the same area caught 20 trout all on 3" white gulp swimming mullet 1st fish of the day was a 19" trout with the rest in the 15-17" range after 3 days of trout time to mix things up and go for Redfish. 1st area I fished no one home 2nd area after being careful not to spook them I look down and there are 100 plus Red Fish which took off in all directions. moved out of the area for 20 min. went back put the spike down far enough to cast but far enough to not spook the boggers very cast was a Red fish on the same swimming mullet I was using for trout after 4 Reds over 25" and dozen slots I left them still biteing. Edisto has got to be one of the best fishing areas on the coast.
Would you be willing to share the depth where you were catching the trout. I fished Sunday and Monday but the trout were not where I had been catching them. I had been having good results in about six feet of water at mid-tide in the North Edisto. I am guessing they have moved into deeper water. Any information is appreciated.

caught fish Friday and Saturday in 6-7’ on popping corks @ mid tide on out going in rips caused by water around and behind oyster rakes, as Tide got closer to low 1/8 jig with gulp mullet pounced on or close to the bottom in deeper water out from where the rip had formed earlier.
Thanks for the info. That’s pretty much the same way I have been fishing for trout but I was fishing the incoming tide Sunday & Monday. I think I’ll give it another shot on the outgoing this weekend and try a few more trout spots.

Oristorob, I think I saw you out there on Sunday. If it was, you were catching reds with live bait under a slip float with a lady aboard. We were trout fishing down the bank and ended up with a limit in 2-4 feet of water.
With Steamboat closed down, is Dawhoo or Toogoodoo the only public landings on the North?

That was me, next time stop and say hello if you have the time. I always enjoy reading your post and have gained lots of fishing info from them. That was no lady on my boat, it’s my bride of 41 years. I guess we spent so much time chasing spot-tails that I didn’t give the trout a fair change. It had been a couple weeks since I had been fishing and I was to quick to assume they had moved to deeper water. I plan to give them another chance the next few days. Happy fishing and thanks for the shout.

I will stop and say hello next time I see you out. The weather looks perfect Friday-Monday so I should be out there quite a bit starting tomorrrow. Any idea who the young guy was in the Stinger boat beside you? He was in that spot for about 8 hours that day and caught a good number. We went to Bohicket when the water bottomed out to fish for sheeps. Caught 25+ but only 4 keepers.

Did not know the guy in the stinger boat. We went out yesterday at about the last hour of the falling tide and there were two boats on that spot that were together. One had four on board and the other was a fairly big boat with twin engines that had six in it. They were catching and having a big time. I fished on down the bank and found the trout just like you said. We caught about a dozen and then left to catch bait for today. Tried one other spot on the way back to the landing but found no one home.
