Heard Bi-Lo bought the Pig as well as a few other Pig stores. Man, I loved the home cookin in the deli… especially breakfast. Oh, well, nothing lasts forever.
Ya, its sad. But its like you said, nothing lasts forever. I heard when the Pig bought out the IGA there was a lot of teeth gnashing and breast beating too. That was before my time. I will miss the pig and the T shirts too.
The resistance to change is one of the many things that makes Edisto special. I love it.

I am pretty sure the pig in Hollywood is staying. I tend to stay away from the Edisto pig unless we run out of something. I personally do not like bi-lo. I think they buy low and sell high to us.

When the family and I come down for our annual week at Edisto, we’ve already decided to call it “The Pig-Lo”. Change is easier when taken in small steps.
Hollywood Pig is defintely staying, real bummer as they have an awful lot of long time employees that love being a part of the Pig.
You can’t catch fish on a dry line
Worked at the Hollywood Pig for a few years had a lot of customers that would come by om the way to Edisto every year

The food at the deli and the ladies cooking it used to be at the BP years ago, before it Burned. Maybe they will find another place if Bilo doesn’t keep them.

I can’t count the times we would all wake up at the Edisto house sore and hungover. The one thing that would get the shrimping crew moving was the promise of a Piggly Wiggly home cooked breakfast. Eggs, bacon, grits, buscuits and gravy, and the promise of honest to god the best corn beef hash ever made. We would bury aour faces in that stuff on the way to the landing for another day of shrimping. All washed down with morning beer of course. Ahh, the good ol days. We will miss the Pig.

All the tourists used to ask me about hauling into town to go to Jestine’s for fried chicken. I’d tell them to save the gas, go to the pig.
Is the change already happening? Coming week after next for vacation.
Just wondering how soon it will change. Thanks.
RIP Pig… glad I still have the t-shirt!

There is a .pdf of which pigs will be bihi’s somewhere online. Saw it the other day. I remember the old IGA. Supposedly the bihi will retain the current employees at the pig locations. Who knows, they may be saying that now for PR. I liked the IGA. Had to get used to hogly wogly. I’m not to resistant to change except at Edisto. As long as its and improvement. You can’t really improve Edisto. You either love it or you don’t.
