You don’t have to take this the wrong way if you’re a Spurrier apologist. It’s just who the man is. Watch this entire thing back to back with his presser from this week, and you’ll be amazed at the consistency of the man.
Spurrier: “The thing Dan that, uh, I hope to do is never get fired as a football coach.” “I don’t wanna ever get run out…”
It’s hard for you all to deny this. The man watched what happened to his contemporaries like Phil Fulmer and even Bobby Bowden. Folks have been calling for him to step down, and he’s not going to let it reach that point whilst in control of his own destiny at any job he’ll ever have. Never has, and never will. His priority, what he is proudest of, is not ever being run out.
He’s been able to accomplish what’s most important to him, and you gotta respect that…
I’d respect it if he’d of stuck the season out and then announced his retirement. What he did was quit. He walked out on his players, fans and the University. You can respect the man for his accomplishments as a coach but no need to respect a quitter because he was afraid of a losing season and being fired.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

How many more times are you going to type the same thing?

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.
I heard Spurrier say he resigned to keep what happened to Lou Holtz from happening, again. Lou lost control of the team and that’s the reason for the debacle with Clemzzzon running down the hill and the big fight. Said if you tell a team I’m quitting they are going to quit trying and have bad attitudes.

So, he quit in order to keep a team that was already tweeting thing like “I should have looked around” or telling him they couldn’t play because of sore ribs or coaches fighting amongst themselves on the sidelines during a game, so he wouldn’t lose them? Weren’t they already lost? Or did he quit because he didn’t like losing and realized that his team was going to continue to lose? He quit on those kids for his own reasons, there was no team consideration about it.
Y’all can’t honestly say that the team is going to be better off with this disjointed staff.
It’s going to be interesting to see if some leaders emerge on this team. You have two players that could be first/second round draft picks in Moore and Cooper that have been abandoned. Sure hope they can overcome this and it doesn’t hurt them too bad in the draft.

quote:he said. “I think it’s obvious our talent is not quite as good as it was, and that’s my fault. We haven’t recruited, maybe, quite as well. We thought we had, but it hasn’t played out.”
quote:You have referred to yourself as a “liability” two or three times in the past two days. You have fallen on your sword pretty hard the past couple of days. How does that feel?
Yeah, I’m OK. I’m very much OK. I have avoided being fired. That was one of my goals in coaching, see if I could get through without being fired.

Proof. Didn’t like his team, and didn’t want to get fired. Boom.

I’m just glad someone finally admitted the fight was the cocks fault.
OBS is 70 he quit to give his team a chance to get a decent hire. Instead of letting someone else beat them to it. That being said last game of the year…Lou Holtz fashion Adiòs was on the way.
Spurrier got the best of Dabo and it will always be that way in the history books. Written in stone now, until the end of time. Kind of sad for Clemson fans with a hard on to beat Spurrier. It’s a thirst they will never be able to quech, an itch that can’t be scratched…
